Description

Delightfully spooky and fun, Vampire Teeth Cookies are a creative twist on classic chocolate chip cookies. These treats transform simple cookies into playful vampire mouths with marshmallow teeth, red icing ‘gums’, and almond fangs—perfect for Halloween parties or themed events. Easy to prepare with store-bought dough and minimal baking, they offer a festive and eye-catching dessert that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Base

  • 30 oz package of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough

Decorations

  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 (4.25 oz) tube of red decorator icing (or a tub of white frosting and red food dye)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare dough: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Divide the refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough into 12 equal sections and roll each into a large ball to ensure even baking.
  2. Bake the cookies: Arrange the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat, spacing them apart. Bake according to package instructions, usually around 12 minutes, until golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool completely before assembling.
  3. Cut cookies and apply icing: Once cooled, carefully slice each cookie in half horizontally. Place the halves with the flat, cut sides facing up (the wrong side). Squeeze a generous strip of red decorator icing along the inside edge of each cookie half; this will act as the ‘gum’ line holding the teeth.
  4. Add marshmallow teeth: Press miniature marshmallows along the icing strip on one half of each cookie. Arrange them along the inside edges, including the flat edge, to simulate teeth and ensure the assembled mouth will be level.
  5. Assemble the vampire mouth: Gently place the other cookie half on top of the marshmallow-lined half to create a closed mouth with visible “teeth.”
  6. Create fangs: Before the icing sets, quickly press a slivered almond onto the outer sides of the two front marshmallows to mimic sharp vampire fangs.
  7. Repeat assembly: Continue this process with the remaining cookies until all 12 vampire teeth cookies are complete and ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use fresh refrigerated cookie dough for best texture and ease of shaping.
  • Ensure cookies are fully cooled before slicing and assembling to prevent melting or breaking.
  • Work quickly when adding almonds, as icing dries fast and secures decorations in place.
  • For a vegetarian version, confirm that marshmallows are gelatin-free.
  • Store assembled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for optimal freshness.
