Description

This Tahini Coffee Smoothie combines the rich, nutty flavors of tahini with the boldness of espresso and the natural sweetness of bananas and dates, creating a creamy, energizing drink perfect for breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale

Smoothie Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, fresh or frozen
  • 1 1/2 cups non-dairy milk
  • 2 shots of espresso, or 1 cup strongly brewed coffee
  • 2 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)
  • 2 large medjool dates, pits removed (use 4 if using smaller dates)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • Pinch of salt

Toppings

  • Cinnamon (for sprinkling)
  • Whipped cream
  • Shaved dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients: Combine all the smoothie ingredients—bananas, non-dairy milk, espresso or coffee, tahini, medjool dates, cinnamon, ice, and a pinch of salt—in a blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, ensuring all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Serve and Garnish: Pour the smoothie evenly into two cups. Add desired toppings such as a sprinkle of cinnamon, a dollop of whipped cream, and some shaved dark chocolate to enhance flavor and presentation. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for optimal sweetness and creaminess; frozen bananas will make the smoothie colder and thicker.
  • Medjool dates add natural sweetness, but you can adjust the quantity based on your preference or substitute with another sweetener.
  • For a vegan whipped cream option, use coconut-based or soy-based whipped cream.
  • If you don’t have espresso, strongly brewed coffee works well as an alternative.
  • Add more ice for a colder, thicker smoothie or less if you prefer it creamier and less chilled.
