Description

These Tahini Brownies offer a rich, fudgy chocolate experience with a unique nutty twist from tahini. Perfectly balanced sweetness and a tender crumb make them an irresistible treat for any chocolate lover looking to try something a little different.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Chocolate Mixture

  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 4 tablespoons tahini, divided

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper to ensure the brownies don’t stick.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and unsweetened cocoa powder, stirring them together until evenly mixed.
  3. Melt Chocolate Mixture: Place the bittersweet chocolate pieces in a microwave-safe bowl and melt for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, stirring halfway through. Then add the coconut oil and a portion of the tahini, stirring until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Beat Eggs and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on medium-high speed to beat the eggs, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar for 3 to 4 minutes. The mixture should become smooth, thick, and doubled in volume.
  5. Add Flavorings and Chocolate: Stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract, followed by the melted chocolate mixture. Beat on medium speed until everything is well combined, then increase to medium-high speed for 30 seconds to one minute until the batter thickens and holds its shape.
  6. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Add the cornstarch-cocoa mixture to the batter and beat again on medium-high speed for 30 seconds to one minute until fully incorporated and thick.
  7. Spread and Swirl Tahini: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top evenly. Drizzle the remaining tahini over the top and use a toothpick or fork to gently swirl it into the batter for a marbled effect.
  8. Bake and Cool: Bake in the preheated oven for 22 to 26 minutes, or until the top is browned and the sides have puffed up. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 9 squares and serving.

Notes

  • Use high-quality bittersweet chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Be careful not to overbake; brownies should be fudgy and moist inside.
  • The tahini swirl adds a unique nutty flavor and beautiful presentation.
  • Ensure eggs and sugar are well beaten for a light, airy texture.
  • Allow brownies to cool properly before slicing to maintain clean cuts.
