Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Dry Mix-ins: In a large mixing bowl, add the Rice Chex cereal, mini pretzels, and pecan halves, mixing gently to combine.
  3. Make Toffee Mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, unsalted butter, and light corn syrup. Stir continuously until the mixture starts to boil.
  4. Cook Toffee: Let the toffee mixture boil gently for 2 to 3 minutes without stirring to allow it to thicken properly.
  5. Add Flavorings: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in the baking soda, vanilla extract, and sea salt. The mixture will bubble up slightly as the baking soda reacts.
  6. Coat the Mix: Quickly pour the hot toffee mixture over the cereal and nut mix, gently stirring to ensure all pieces are evenly coated with toffee.
