Description

These Shrimp Tacos are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that combines flavorful shrimp with a refreshing slaw, all wrapped in warm tortillas. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual gathering with friends.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • juice of 1 lime

For the Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • salt and pepper to taste

To Serve:

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • sliced avocado
  • extra lime wedges
  • hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and lime juice. Let it marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Slaw: In another bowl, combine shredded cabbage, cilantro, Greek yogurt, lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  4. Assemble the Tacos: Warm tortillas. Layer slaw, shrimp, and avocado slices in each tortilla. Add lime juice and hot sauce if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add jalapeño to the slaw or use chipotle chili powder.
  • Grilled shrimp can also be used for a smoky flavor.
