Description

This creamy and flavorful Roasted Garlic Dip is a perfect appetizer for garlic lovers. Featuring slow-roasted garlic cloves blended with sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream cheese, it offers a rich and smooth texture with a hint of tang from lemon juice. Ideal for serving with chips, crackers, or fresh veggies, this dip elevates any party or snack time with its robust, mellow garlic taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Roasted Garlic

  • 1 large head of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Dip Base

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish (optional)

  • Chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Roast Garlic: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Slice the top off the head of garlic to expose the individual cloves. Drizzle the exposed cloves with olive oil, wrap the garlic tightly in aluminum foil, and roast it in the oven for 35–40 minutes until the cloves are soft and golden brown.
  2. Cool and Squeeze Garlic: Allow the roasted garlic to cool slightly so it’s safe to handle. Then, squeeze the softened garlic cloves out of their skins into a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, lemon juice, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the roasted garlic. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined. For an extra silky texture, you may blend the mixture in a food processor at this stage.
  4. Chill the Dip: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together perfectly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish your roasted garlic dip with chopped fresh chives or parsley if desired. Serve alongside chips, crackers, raw vegetables, or use as a sandwich spread.

Notes

  • This dip pairs perfectly with chips, crackers, raw veggies, or as a spread for sandwiches.
  • For a tangier flavor, add extra lemon juice or a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
  • To make the dip smoother, blend in a food processor after mixing.
  • Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
