Description

This vibrant Pomegranate Margarita recipe blends the tart sweetness of pomegranate juice with the bold flavors of tequila and lime, enhanced by a homemade pomegranate syrup. Perfectly chilled and easy to make, it’s a refreshing twist on the classic margarita for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Pomegranate Syrup

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Margarita

  • 2 ounces pomegranate syrup (from above)
  • 3 ounces tequila reposado (Espolon recommended)
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 cup ice
  • Pomegranate arils (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Pomegranate Syrup: Combine the pomegranate juice and granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar completely dissolves, forming a syrup. Remove the pan from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  2. Mix the Margarita: In a cocktail shaker, add 2 ounces of the cooled pomegranate syrup, 3 ounces of tequila reposado, 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice, and ice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds to thoroughly chill and blend the ingredients.
  3. Serve: Strain the margarita mixture into a serving glass filled with ice. Garnish with pomegranate arils if desired for an elegant touch and added flavor. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • The pomegranate syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Adjust the sugar in the syrup to taste if you prefer a sweeter or tarter drink.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor; bottled lime juice can alter the taste.
  • For a salt rim, rub a lime wedge around the glass edge and dip it in coarse salt before serving.
  • This recipe yields one cocktail; multiply ingredients to make larger batches.
