Description

Nature’s Gatorade is a refreshing homemade electrolyte drink combining coconut water, fresh citrus juices, and a touch of natural sweetener. This healthy beverage replenishes fluids and electrolytes, making it perfect for hydration after workouts or on hot days.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquid Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut water
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 1 orange)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 2 cups cold water

Other Ingredients

  • 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for electrolytes)

Instructions

  1. Juice the citrus fruits: Squeeze the juice from the fresh oranges and lemons, making sure to remove any seeds to avoid bitterness.
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the coconut water, fresh orange juice, fresh lemon juice, honey or maple syrup if using, and sea salt. Stir well to dissolve the salt and sweetener.
  3. Add water: Pour in the cold water to dilute the mixture for a balanced flavor and stir thoroughly to evenly blend all ingredients.
  4. Chill and serve: Refrigerate the drink for about 1 hour before serving to ensure it is nice and cold. Alternatively, add ice cubes for immediate chilling.
  5. Serve: Pour into glasses and enjoy this hydrating beverage that replenishes electrolytes and fluids, ideal after exercise or during hot weather.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness with more or less honey or maple syrup according to your taste preference.
  • Use fresh citrus juice for the best flavor and nutritional benefits.
  • If you have no sea salt, substitute with regular salt but use sparingly.
  • Keep refrigerated and consume within 24 hours for maximum freshness.
  • Adding a few fresh mint leaves can enhance the flavor if desired.
