Description

These Korean BBQ Meatballs are savory, juicy, and coated in a flavorful Korean BBQ sauce. Served with a spicy mayo dip, they make a perfect appetizer or party snack that combines Asian-inspired flavors with an easy stovetop cooking method.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 1/2 cup Korean BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Spicy Mayo Dip

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, finely chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined, then shape the mixture into small meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in a single layer and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all sides and ensure they are cooked through.
  3. Add Korean BBQ Sauce: Lower the heat and pour in the Korean BBQ sauce directly into the skillet. Stir gently to coat all the meatballs evenly and let them simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce is warmed through and slightly thickened.
  4. Make the Spicy Mayo Dip: While the meatballs simmer, in a small bowl combine mayonnaise, sriracha, and lime juice. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  5. Serve: Transfer the cooked meatballs to a serving dish or shallow bowl. Optionally drizzle with a bit more BBQ sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve alongside the spicy mayo dip for dipping.

Notes

  • For a quicker version, use frozen meatballs and toss them in the Korean BBQ sauce after reheating.
  • This recipe is ideal as a flavorful appetizer or party snack.
  • Serving with toothpicks or mini skewers makes it easy for guests to enjoy.
