Description

Jambalaya Alfredo is a delicious fusion dish combining the bold flavors of Cajun jambalaya with the creamy richness of classic Alfredo pasta. Featuring a savory mix of andouille sausage, chicken, and shrimp, sautéed with bell peppers, onions, and Cajun spices, then tossed with fettuccine in a luscious Parmesan cream sauce. Perfect for a comforting yet flavorful main course that brings a taste of the South to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale

Proteins

  • 1/2 pound andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1/2 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Seasonings & Spices

  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 ounces fettuccine or penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Begin by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Once done, drain it thoroughly and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Brown the Sausage: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced andouille sausage and cook for about 3 minutes, or until browned and fragrant.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Cook the Shrimp: Push the cooked sausage and chicken to one side of the skillet. Add shrimp to the cleared space and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove all the proteins from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add diced red and green bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften and become aromatic.
  6. Add Seasonings: Stir in the Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper evenly into the vegetables.
  7. Make Alfredo Sauce: Add butter to the skillet and allow it to melt. Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.
  8. Combine with Cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts completely and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  9. Toss Everything Together: Add the cooked pasta back into the skillet along with the reserved sausage, chicken, and shrimp. Toss everything gently but thoroughly until the pasta is evenly coated with the creamy Cajun Alfredo sauce and heated through.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top if desired and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For more heat, add extra Cajun seasoning or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
  • You can substitute the proteins with other favorites like turkey sausage or scallops depending on availability.
  • Pairs beautifully with crusty bread or a fresh, light green salad to balance the richness.
