Ingredients
Scale
Tea Base
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup water
- 1 black or rooibos tea bag
Flavorings
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
Alcohol
- 2 ounces bourbon or whiskey
Instructions
- Boil and steep: In a small saucepan, combine the cinnamon stick and water. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat, add the tea bag, and let it steep for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Sweeten the tea: Remove the tea bag and stir in the honey until fully dissolved, creating a smooth, sweet base for the toddy.
- Assemble the toddy: In a large mug, add the freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon and the bourbon or whiskey. Pour the hot cinnamon tea over the mixture, garnish with the cinnamon stick, and serve warm for the best experience.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
- Adjust the amount of honey to your preferred sweetness level.
- Choose bourbon or whiskey depending on taste preference; rye whiskey can be a great alternative.
- This recipe can be doubled or tripled for serving multiple people.
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the bourbon or whiskey and enjoy as a cinnamon honey tea.
