Description

A soothing and warming Hot Toddy made with brewed black or rooibos tea, infused with cinnamon, honey, lemon juice, and bourbon or whiskey. Perfect for chilly evenings or when you need a comforting drink.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 black or rooibos tea bag

Flavorings

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced

Alcohol

  • 2 ounces bourbon or whiskey

Instructions

  1. Boil and steep: In a small saucepan, combine the cinnamon stick and water. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat, add the tea bag, and let it steep for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. Sweeten the tea: Remove the tea bag and stir in the honey until fully dissolved, creating a smooth, sweet base for the toddy.
  3. Assemble the toddy: In a large mug, add the freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon and the bourbon or whiskey. Pour the hot cinnamon tea over the mixture, garnish with the cinnamon stick, and serve warm for the best experience.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to your preferred sweetness level.
  • Choose bourbon or whiskey depending on taste preference; rye whiskey can be a great alternative.
  • This recipe can be doubled or tripled for serving multiple people.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the bourbon or whiskey and enjoy as a cinnamon honey tea.
