Description
This Hot Honey Infused Feta Chicken recipe combines tender, seared chicken breasts with a spicy-sweet hot honey glaze, finished with creamy crumbled feta and fresh herbs for an easy yet flavorful dish perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Glaze
- 3 tablespoons hot honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Toppings
- 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Season the chicken: Season both sides of the chicken breasts evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Allow the chicken to rest at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors and to ensure even cooking.
- Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare the hot honey glaze: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the butter and hot honey to the same skillet, stirring constantly and scraping up any browned bits stuck to the bottom. Let the glaze simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until it slightly thickens and becomes glossy.
- Glaze the chicken: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon the hot honey glaze over each piece. Let them cook together for another 2-3 minutes to allow the chicken to soak up the sweet and spicy flavors.
- Serve: Transfer the glazed chicken to a serving plate. Drizzle with any remaining glaze from the skillet and sprinkle crumbled feta cheese and fresh thyme or rosemary over the top. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze while it simmers.
- Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary add a fragrant, savory touch but can be omitted if unavailable.
- Ensure the chicken is cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
- To make this recipe gluten-free, verify that your hot honey does not contain any gluten-containing additives.
- Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
