Description

Heaven On Earth Cake is a delightful no-bake layered dessert featuring airy angel food cake cubes, creamy vanilla pudding mixed with sour cream, sweet cherry pie filling, and a light whipped topping. This easy-to-assemble American classic combines textures and flavors for a refreshing treat perfect for summer gatherings or make-ahead occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake (store-bought or homemade, cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare pudding mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until it begins to thicken, about 2 minutes. Stir in the sour cream until smooth and well combined, then set aside.
  2. Layer angel food cake and cherry filling: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the cubed angel food cake evenly across the bottom. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling evenly over the cake cubes.
  3. Add second cake layer: Repeat by layering the remaining angel food cake cubes on top of the cherry filling.
  4. Spread pudding mixture: Evenly spread the prepared pudding mixture over the second layer of cake cubes.
  5. Top with whipped topping: Spread the whipped topping evenly over the pudding layer.
  6. Finish with cherry pie dollops and almonds: Spoon the remaining cherry pie filling in small dollops across the top of the whipped topping. Sprinkle with sliced almonds if using.
  7. Chill the dessert: Refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set.
  8. Serve chilled: Cut into squares and serve cold for best texture and taste.

Notes

  • You can substitute other pie fillings such as blueberry or strawberry for a flavor variation.
  • For a homemade touch, bake and cool your own angel food cake before cubing.
  • This dessert can be prepared a day in advance to save time and deepen the flavor.
