Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 lb fresh green beans
Meat
- 4 slices thick bacon
Seasonings and Others
- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp light brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for roasting the bundles later.
- Blanch Green Beans: Trim the ends off the green beans. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add the green beans, and cook for 2 minutes. Immediately transfer the beans to a bowl of ice water to halt the cooking process. Drain and dry thoroughly on paper towels.
- Partially Cook Bacon: In a large frying pan over medium heat, cook the bacon slices for 5-6 minutes until they start to brown but remain pliable. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels. Cut each slice in half for wrapping.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the kosher salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper until well combined.
- Assemble Bundles: Take about six green beans and wrap them securely with half a slice of bacon. Place each bundle seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining beans and bacon pieces.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle the bundles evenly with light brown sugar and drizzle the butter mixture over them for a flavorful glaze.
- Roast Bundles: Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 20-25 minutes or until the bacon is cooked through and browned to your liking. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Blanching the green beans helps them remain crisp yet tender after roasting.
- Partially cooking bacon before wrapping ensures it crisps nicely without overcooking the green beans.
- You can substitute brown sugar with maple syrup for a different sweetness profile.
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and make clean-up easier.
- These bundles can be prepared ahead and roasted just before serving.
