Ingredients
Scale
Oreo Ball Base
- 1 package (36 cookies) Oreos, crushed
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
Coating & Decoration
- 12 oz green candy melts or white chocolate with green food coloring
- Candy eyes
- Black decorating gel or icing
- Chocolate sprinkles for hair
- Optional: lollipop sticks to turn them into cake pops
Instructions
- Prepare Oreo Mixture: Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed bag and crushing with a rolling pin. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese and mix thoroughly until fully combined into a dough-like consistency.
- Form Balls and Chill: Roll the Oreo mixture into 24 even-sized balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill the balls in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up and make dipping easier.
- Melt Candy Coating: Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the coating is completely smooth and fully melted.
- Dip Oreo Balls: Dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted green coating, ensuring it is fully covered. Place the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined sheet to set.
- Decorate Frankenstein Faces: While the coating is still wet, add candy eyes to each ball. Use black decorating gel or icing to draw the mouths and bolts on the sides of the heads. Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on top to create Frankenstein’s hair.
- Set and Serve: Refrigerate the decorated Oreo balls for at least 10 minutes to allow the coating to fully set and harden. Once set, serve immediately and enjoy your festive Halloween treat!
Notes
- For best results, use full-fat cream cheese softened to room temperature to ensure smooth mixing.
- If green candy melts are unavailable, melt white chocolate and tint it with green food coloring suitable for candy.
- Adding lollipop sticks before chilling can turn these into festive Frankenstein cake pops for easier handling.
- Store leftover Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Allow candy coating to fully set to prevent stickiness when serving.
