Main Ingredients:
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds, thawed if frozen)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
Seasoning Mix:
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
Stuffing:
- 1 onion (quartered)
- 1 lemon (quartered)
- 1 head garlic (halved crosswise)
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken or turkey broth
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 325°F and position the rack in the lower third of the oven.
- Prepare the Turkey: Remove giblets and neck from the turkey cavity. Pat the turkey dry. Mix softened butter with seasonings and rub all over the turkey.
- Stuff the Turkey: Fill the cavity with onion, lemon, garlic, and fresh herbs. Tie the legs and tuck the wings.
- Roast: Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, pour broth in the pan. Roast until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Rest and Serve: Let the turkey rest before carving.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, uncover the turkey during the last 30 minutes of roasting.
- Use pan drippings to make gravy for added flavor.
