  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)

Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Dough: In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm milk and yeast. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
  2. Filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out dough, spread with butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar, roll up, slice into rolls.
  3. Baking: Place rolls in a baking dish, let rise, then bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.
  4. Cream Cheese Frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Frost warm rolls.

Notes

  • For overnight rolls, prepare through the second rise, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
