Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
Filling:
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)
Instructions
- Dough: In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm milk and yeast. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
- Filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out dough, spread with butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar, roll up, slice into rolls.
- Baking: Place rolls in a baking dish, let rise, then bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.
- Cream Cheese Frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Frost warm rolls.
Notes
- For overnight rolls, prepare through the second rise, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
