- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups fresh milled whole wheat flour (hard white or red wheat)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the fresh milled flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Bake: Scoop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.

Notes
- Fresh milled flour absorbs liquid differently, so let the dough rest before baking.
- Variations: Try raisins, nuts, or white chocolate chips for different flavors.
