Description

These Easy Fresh Milled Flour Cookies are a delightful treat made with wholesome fresh milled whole wheat flour and loaded with chocolate chips. Perfect for a quick and delicious dessert!

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh milled whole wheat flour (hard white or red wheat)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the fresh milled flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Bake: Scoop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool: Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Fresh milled flour absorbs liquid differently, so let the dough rest before baking.
  • Variations: Try raisins, nuts, or white chocolate chips for different flavors.
