Description
Easy Chicken Tacos are a quick and flavorful meal perfect for busy weeknights. Tender, seasoned chicken breast pieces are cooked to juicy perfection and served warm in tortillas with your favorite taco garnishes for a customizable and satisfying dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
To Serve
- Tortillas
- Your favorite taco garnishes (e.g., shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, cilantro, lime wedges)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Dice the chicken into small pieces about ½-¾ inch (1½ cm) cubes, suitable for taco filling. Don’t worry if the pieces aren’t perfectly uniform. Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and sprinkle with the taco seasoning. Toss to evenly coat the chicken.
- Heat the Pan: Let the seasoned chicken rest for a few minutes while heating a large pan over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the pan with a small amount of oil or cooking spray once it’s hot.
- Cook the Chicken: Add the chicken pieces to the hot pan. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes to ensure even cooking. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF and juices run clear.
- Rest the Chicken: Remove the pan from heat and allow the chicken to rest for 3 to 5 minutes. This helps retain juices and ensures tender filling.
- Assemble the Tacos: Use the cooked chicken as a filling for warm tortillas. Add your preferred garnishes such as lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, salsa, cilantro, or lime wedges to complete your tacos.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness to ensure safe cooking.

- Leftover chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated.
- Gluten-free tortillas can be used to make this recipe gluten-free.
- Customize garnishes to suit your taste preferences or dietary needs.
