Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 1 pkg (14.3 oz) Golden Oreos, finely crushed
- 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 packet (3 oz) orange gelatin powder
- Zest of 1 orange
- Orange food coloring (optional)
Coating
- 1 bag (12 oz) white chocolate chips or candy melts
Garnish (Optional)
- Sprinkles
- Extra orange zest
Instructions
- Crush the Cookies: Pulse the Golden Oreos in a food processor until finely crushed, or place them in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until you have fine crumbs.
- Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed cookies with softened cream cheese, orange gelatin powder, and the zest of one orange. Add orange food coloring if desired for a more vibrant color. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Chill: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes to allow it to firm up, which makes it easier to shape.
- Roll into Balls: Using a small scoop or spoon, portion out the dough and roll into 1-inch balls. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking.
- Freeze: Place the tray of rolled truffles in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes. This chills the truffles so they hold their shape during the dipping process.
- Dip in Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in short bursts, stirring until smooth. Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off before placing back on the parchment-lined tray.
- Decorate & Set: While the chocolate coating is still wet, garnish truffles with sprinkles or extra orange zest if desired. Let the truffles set at room temperature until the chocolate hardens, or refrigerate to speed up setting.
Notes
- To finely crush the Oreos without a food processor, place them in a sealed bag and crush with a rolling pin.
- Orange food coloring is optional and purely for enhancing the orange hue.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Allow truffles to come to room temperature before serving for best flavor and texture.
- Use high-quality white chocolate or candy melts for a smooth and shiny coating.
