			Mushrooms
- 16 oz white button mushrooms or cremini/baby bella mushrooms, sliced
Cowboy Butter
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp cloth or paper towel and slice them evenly to ensure they cook uniformly.
- Melt the cowboy butter: In a skillet or frying pan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic, fresh parsley, thyme, rosemary, paprika, lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine and let the herbs infuse the butter for a minute.
- Sauté the mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook them in the cowboy butter for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms become tender and turn golden brown.
- Season to taste: Taste the mushrooms and add salt if necessary, remembering the cowboy butter already contains seasoning.
- Finish and serve: Once the mushrooms are fully cooked and have absorbed the flavorful butter, remove the pan from heat. Serve immediately as a savory side dish or appetizer.
Notes
- Use fresh mushrooms for the best texture and flavor.
- You can substitute white button mushrooms with cremini or baby bella mushrooms if preferred.
- Adjust crushed red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level or omit for a milder dish.
- Serve as a delicious side for grilled meats, steaks, or on toasted bread as an appetizer.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
