Description

Celebrate the holidays with these festive Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks, featuring creamy spinach dip layered between flaky crescent roll dough, shaped into a Christmas tree and baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a party appetizer or cozy snack!

Ingredients

Scale

Spinach Dip Mixture

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Dough & Toppings

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: sesame seeds or grated Parmesan for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow even baking.
  2. Prepare Spinach Dip: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, thawed and drained chopped spinach, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything until smooth and well incorporated. Set aside.
  3. Prepare Bottom Dough Layer: Roll out one can of crescent roll dough onto the prepared baking sheet, pinching the seams together to create a single, even sheet that will serve as the base.
  4. Spread Spinach Dip: Evenly spread the prepared spinach dip mixture over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges to ensure the filling doesn’t spill out during baking.
  5. Add Top Dough Layer: Roll out the second can of crescent roll dough and carefully place it over the spinach dip layer. Gently press the edges together to seal the layers without the dip leaking out.
  6. Shape the Tree: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into a large triangle resembling a Christmas tree. Reserve any excess dough for decorative additions if desired.
  7. Create Tree Branches: Cut horizontal slices along both sides of the triangle, making sure to leave a 1-inch wide trunk area in the center. Twist each sliced strip gently to create the effect of tree branches.
  8. Apply Egg Wash and Toppings: Brush the entire tree surface with the beaten egg to give it a golden, glossy finish once baked. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or extra grated Parmesan if you like added texture and flavor.
  9. Bake to Perfection: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the breadsticks are puffed up and golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Make sure to thoroughly drain the spinach to prevent the dough from getting soggy.
  • Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for clean cuts and precise tree shape.
  • Feel free to get creative with decorations, such as olives or cherry tomato ‘ornaments’.
  • Serve warm with marinara sauce or extra dip for a festive touch.
  • To save time, you can prepare the spinach dip mixture a day ahead and refrigerate.
