Description

These Christmas Chicken and Waffle Sliders are a festive and fun appetizer featuring crispy chicken fingers sandwiched between toasted mini waffles with a tangy coleslaw topping, drizzled with maple syrup for a perfect sweet and savory bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 frozen chicken fingers

Waffles

  • 32 frozen mini waffles

Toppings

  • 1 cup cole slaw
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Toothpicks (as needed for assembly)

Instructions

  1. Cook chicken and waffles: Cook the frozen chicken fingers and mini waffles following the package instructions until crispy and heated through. Once cooked, cut each chicken finger into 3-4 pieces. Separate the toasted mini waffles.
  2. Assemble base layer: Place a scant tablespoon of cole slaw on top of one toasted mini waffle to create the base of the slider.
  3. Add chicken: Place a piece of the cooked chicken fingers on top of the cole slaw layer on the waffle.
  4. Complete the slider: Place another mini waffle on top of the chicken piece to form the slider. Secure the layers using a toothpick to hold the slider together firmly.
  5. Repeat assembly: Repeat steps 2 through 4 with the remaining waffles, cole slaw, and chicken pieces to make all sliders.
  6. Serve: Drizzle each slider with maple syrup for added sweetness and serve immediately to enjoy warm and fresh.

Notes

  • Use toothpicks long enough to securely hold all layers together.
  • For a spicier twist, consider adding a dash of hot sauce to the cole slaw or chicken.
  • These sliders are best served immediately after assembly to keep the waffles crisp.
  • Coleslaw can be store-bought or homemade depending on your preference.
  • To save time, chicken fingers and waffles can be cooked in the oven simultaneously if your oven space allows.
