			Cookies
- 40 chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos)
Candy Melts
- 6 ounces white candy melts
- 6 ounces green candy melts
- 6 ounces purple candy melts
- 6 ounces orange candy melts
- 2 ounces black candy melts
Decorations
- Halloween sprinkles
- Candy eyeball decorations
Instructions
- Prepare the workspace: Line a cookie sheet with wax paper or a smooth reusable silicone baking mat to place the dipped cookies on. This prevents sticking and makes cleanup easier.
- Melt candy melts: In a microwave-safe glass bowl, melt one color of candy melts at 50% power. Stir after every 30 seconds until completely smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to overheat.
- Dip the cookies: Using a spoon, carefully drop one Oreo cookie into the melted candy. Flip the cookie upside down inside the bowl to coat all sides thoroughly. Then, lift the cookie out of the candy with a fork, gently shaking off excess coating to avoid drips.
- Place and decorate: Transfer the coated Oreo onto the prepared cookie sheet. Immediately decorate by adding Halloween-themed sprinkles or candy eyeball decorations onto the wet candy coating so they adhere properly.
- Repeat for all colors: Repeat the melting and dipping process with the remaining candy melt colors, coating and decorating cookies in each color as desired.
- Add spooky details: Once all cookies have hardened, melt the black candy melts and use a piping bag with a small tip to pipe designs such as spider webs and faces onto the coated cookies.
- Store: Store the fully set chocolate covered Halloween Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks to maintain freshness and coating crispness.
Notes
- Use candy melts to ensure easy melting and a smooth coating finish.
- Do not overheat candy melts to prevent burning or graininess.
- Add decorations while the coating is still wet for best adherence.
- Use a fine piping tip for detailed spooky designs with black melts.
- Store cookies in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
