Description

Tender chicken breasts cooked to golden perfection and smothered in a rich, creamy Boursin cheese sauce flavored with garlic and fine herbs. This easy stovetop recipe is ready in just 20 minutes, making it perfect for a quick and elegant dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Boursin cheese (garlic & fine herbs)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Garnish

  • Fresh thyme, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the chicken.
  2. Cook chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Place them in the skillet and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and fully cooked through.
  3. Set chicken aside: Remove the cooked chicken breasts from the skillet and set them aside on a plate while you prepare the sauce.
  4. Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add sauce ingredients: Stir in the Boursin cheese, heavy cream, and chicken broth into the skillet. Mix well and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  6. Simmer sauce: Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly, creating a creamy, flavorful base.
  7. Return chicken to skillet: Place the chicken breasts back into the skillet with the sauce and coat them thoroughly. Simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes to heat the chicken through and allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Garnish and serve: Garnish the chicken with fresh thyme sprigs before serving to add a burst of herbal aroma and visual appeal.

Notes

  • You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce, but it will be less rich.
  • For added flavor, marinate the chicken briefly in olive oil, garlic, and herbs before cooking.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or mashed potatoes to make a complete meal.
  • If Boursin cheese is unavailable, cream cheese mixed with garlic and herbs can be used as a substitute.
  • Ensure chicken breasts are evenly sized to cook uniformly.
