Cinnamon Rolls:
- 1 package (16 oz) refrigerated cinnamon roll dough with icing
Cherry Filling:
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
Additional Ingredients:
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare baking dish: Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
- Fill and roll dough: Unroll each cinnamon roll slightly and spoon about 1 tablespoon of cherry pie filling into the center. Roll them back up gently and place in the prepared dish.
- Prepare cherry mixture: Combine the remaining cherry filling with ground cinnamon and almond extract. Spoon any extra mixture over the rolls.
- Add toppings and bake: Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
- Finish and serve: Drizzle with included icing while warm. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
