Description

Cheesy Dynamite Chicken Buns are a delicious fusion appetizer featuring soft buns stuffed with a spicy, cheesy shredded chicken filling. Perfect as a party snack or game day treat, these buns combine creamy mayonnaise, tangy sriracha, and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses baked until bubbling and golden.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Filling

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)

Buns

  • 6 soft sandwich buns or dinner rolls
  • Extra cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare it for baking the filled buns.
  2. Prepare the chicken mixture: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mayonnaise, sriracha, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Prepare the buns: Slice the tops off the buns or carefully create a shallow well in the center of each bun, being careful not to cut all the way through to hold the filling securely.
  4. Fill the buns: Spoon a generous amount of the cheesy chicken mixture into each bun, filling the hollowed area or the bun cavity to the top.
  5. Arrange for baking: Place the filled buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese and chopped green onions on top for added flavor and presentation.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the buns have turned lightly golden and toasted.
  7. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and serve immediately while warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • You can use rotisserie chicken to save time and add extra flavor.
  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or increase the amount of chili sauce in the filling.
  • These buns also work wonderfully as party appetizers when made with slider rolls.
