Description

These Cheddar Ranch Pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring creamy ranch-seasoned cheese spread rolled inside soft flour tortillas. Perfect for parties or as a savory snack, they combine tangy cream cheese, shredded cheddar, fresh green onions, and optional bacon for a flavorful bite-sized treat served cold.

Ingredients

Scale

Pinwheel Filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 ounce packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon (optional)

Wrap

  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch size)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir until the mixture is smooth and thoroughly blended to create a creamy base.
  2. Add cheese and vegetables: Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, finely chopped green onions, black pepper, and cooked bacon if using, ensuring all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  3. Spread filling on tortillas: Lay the four flour tortillas flat on a clean surface. Evenly spread approximately one-quarter of the filling over each tortilla, covering the surface completely to the edges for uniform flavor in every bite.
  4. Roll the tortillas: Starting from one side, tightly roll each tortilla into a log shape. Place each rolled tortilla seam-side down to prevent unrolling.
  5. Chill to firm up: Wrap each rolled tortilla securely in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the filling to set and make slicing easier.
  6. Slice into pinwheels: Once chilled, unwrap the rolls and, using a sharp knife, slice each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels. Arrange the pinwheels on a serving platter.
  7. Serve: Serve the pinwheels cold as a flavorful appetizer or snack perfect for gatherings and parties.

Notes

  • These pinwheels can be made up to a day ahead; keep wrapped tightly and refrigerated until ready to serve.
  • For a spicy twist, substitute cheddar cheese with pepper jack cheese.
  • Add chopped fresh spinach or other greens to the filling for extra color and texture.
  • Omit bacon to make the recipe vegetarian-friendly.
