Description

This Brown Sugar Glazed Beef recipe is a delicious and easy Asian-inspired dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. Tender slices of beef are coated in a sweet and savory glaze, then garnished with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef in batches and sear until browned, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside. Lower heat to medium and pour the glaze mixture into the skillet. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 more minutes until the glaze is thick and glossy. Return the beef to the pan and toss to coat in the glaze. Cook for another 2 minutes until everything is heated through. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in the glaze for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if desired.
  • This dish also works great with chicken or tofu.
