Description

A quick and delicious Broccoli Shrimp Stir Fry recipe featuring tender shrimp and crisp vegetables tossed in a savory sauce, perfect served over rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Vegetables

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (red or yellow)
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Others

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Cooked rice or noodles to serve

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel to ensure they cook evenly and have no excess moisture.
  2. Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. Stir well and set aside for later use.
  3. Heat the Oil: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the hot skillet and sauté for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the same skillet. Toss in the minced garlic, broccoli florets, sliced bell pepper, and julienned carrot. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the shrimp and vegetables.
  7. Toss Well: Stir everything together and continue cooking for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats all ingredients.
  8. Check for Doneness: Ensure that the shrimp are fully cooked through and the vegetables remain tender but crisp for the best texture.
  9. Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and serve the stir fry hot over cooked rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overcook the shrimp as they can become rubbery.
  • You can substitute oyster sauce with hoisin sauce for a different flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add red chili flakes or fresh sliced chili to the stir fry.
  • Vegetables can be swapped or added according to preference, such as snap peas or mushrooms.
