Description

Brazilian Lemonade is a refreshing and creamy beverage made with whole limes including their peel, blended with sugar, water, and sweetened condensed milk. This unique lemonade offers a tangy, sweet, and frothy drink perfect for hot days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 6 cups cold water (preferably filtered or purified)
  • 5 limes (cut into wedges, whole with skin)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (or more to taste)
  • Ice (as needed)
  • Fresh lime slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Blend lime and sugar mixture: Add cold water, lime wedges, and granulated sugar to a blender. Blend the mixture until smooth and the lime wedges are thoroughly broken down, ensuring the peel is fully blended for flavor.
  2. Strain the mixture: Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl. Pour the blended mixture through the strainer, catching the liquid in the bowl below. Use a spoon to press and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the remaining pulp and lime pieces caught in the strainer.
  3. Blend with condensed milk: Rinse the blender to remove any lime residue. Pour the strained lime juice mixture back into the blender, add the sweetened condensed milk, and blend again until the mixture is frothy and fully combined.
  4. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the Brazilian lemonade over the ice and garnish with fresh lime slices if desired. Serve immediately while the drink is cold and frothy for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use whole limes including the peel to get the signature tangy and slightly bitter flavor that defines Brazilian Lemonade.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sweetened condensed milk according to preference.
  • Serve immediately after blending for a fresh and frothy texture; the drink does not store well.
  • For a lighter version, substitute sweetened condensed milk with evaporated milk or a plant-based milk alternative, though flavor and creaminess may differ.
