			Banana Bread Butter
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ripe banana, mashed (about ½ cup)
- 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (for extra sweetness)
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (to balance the sweetness)
Instructions
- Prepare the banana butter: In a medium bowl, mash the ripe banana with a fork until smooth, leaving only small chunks if you prefer some texture.
- Mix the ingredients: Add the softened butter, honey (or maple syrup), cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the mashed banana. Stir everything together until well combined and smooth. You can use an electric hand mixer for a smoother, fluffier texture if desired.
- Taste and adjust: Taste the butter and add more honey or syrup if you want it sweeter, or more cinnamon if you’d like a stronger spice flavor.
- Chill (optional): For a firmer consistency, place the banana bread butter in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving. It will solidify slightly but still maintain its spreadable texture.
- Serve: Spread the banana bread butter generously on warm toast, pancakes, waffles, or fresh banana bread. It also works wonderfully as a topping for oatmeal or mixed into yogurt!
Notes
- You can substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar for a vegan option.
- For a chunkier texture, mash the banana less thoroughly.
- Store the banana bread butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Let the butter come to room temperature before spreading if chilled for easier application.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg for an extra warming spice if desired.
