Description

This Baked Salmon with Lemon Shallot Butter Sauce is a simple yet elegant dish perfect for a quick and healthy dinner. The salmon is seasoned with olive oil, lemon pepper, and salt, then baked to tender perfection. It’s topped with a flavorful lemon shallot butter sauce made by sautéing shallots and garlic in butter with fresh lemon juice and zest, adding a bright and savory finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 2 pieces of salmon
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Lemon pepper (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

Lemon Shallot Butter Sauce

  • 1 shallot, chopped finely
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare it for baking the salmon.
  2. Prepare the baking sheet: Place the salmon pieces on a foil-lined baking sheet. The foil helps with easy cleanup and prevents sticking.
  3. Season the salmon: Coat the salmon evenly with olive oil. Sprinkle lemon pepper and salt over the fish according to your taste. Make sure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  4. Bake the salmon: Place the baking sheet with the salmon in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Prepare the lemon shallot butter sauce: While the salmon is baking, chop the garlic and shallot finely and place them in a small pan. Add the butter, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the pan. Cook over medium heat for a few minutes until the shallots soften. Then reduce the heat to low and keep the sauce warm until the salmon is ready.
  6. Serve: Once the salmon is cooked, transfer each piece to a plate and pour the warm lemon shallot butter sauce over the top. Serve immediately for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice and zest for the best flavor.
  • Foil lining on the baking sheet makes cleaning much easier.
  • You can serve this dish with steamed vegetables or a fresh green salad.
  • Make sure not to overcook the salmon to keep it tender and moist.
  • Adjust salt and pepper seasoning to your taste preference.
