- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions
- Prepare the Onion: Peel the onion and cut into bite-sized petals or chunks. Soak the onion pieces in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and enhance flavor.
- Prepare the Batter: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne if using.
- Fry the Onion Bites: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F. Remove the onion pieces from the buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, and fry in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
