Ingredients
Scale
Pie Crust
- 1 package Pillsbury pie crusts
Filling
- Pie filling of choice (cherry, lemon, key lime, etc.) – about 1 to 1½ tablespoons per pie
Finishing
- Olive oil spray (extra virgin olive oil)
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- ~1 teaspoon milk (adjust for consistency)
Instructions
- Cut Pie Crust Circles: Roll out the pie crust dough and use a 4-inch round cutter or a large coffee cup to cut out circles evenly.
- Add Filling: Place 1 to 1½ tablespoons of your chosen pie filling in the center of each dough circle, ensuring not to overfill.
- Seal the Pies: Fold each circle in half over the filling and securely crimp the edges with a fork to seal and prevent leakage during cooking.
- Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly spray both sides of each hand pie with olive oil spray to help create a golden, crispy crust.
- Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F. Place the pies in a single layer in the basket and cook for 6 minutes. Flip them gently and cook for an additional 6 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
- Make the Glaze: While pies cool slightly, combine powdered sugar with approximately 1 teaspoon of milk, stirring until a thick glaze forms.
- Glaze the Pies: Drizzle or brush the glaze over the warm hand pies for a sweet finishing touch before serving.
Notes
- Ensure not to overfill the pies to prevent filling leakage during air frying.
- Use parchment paper in the air fryer basket if your model tends to stick, but avoid blocking air circulation.
- Adjust glaze consistency by adding more milk for a thinner glaze or more powdered sugar for a thicker drizzle.
- These mini hand pies can be customized with any favorite pie filling, including fruit jams, preserves, or custards.
- Allow pies to cool slightly before glazing to prevent melting the icing.
