Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Sauce
- 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Oils and Garnish
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons green onions (sliced)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. Set this sauce mixture aside.
- Heat oils: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil and sesame oil, allowing them to warm up and combine.
- Cook the shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and develop a slight golden color.
- Add the sauce: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce into the skillet with the shrimp. Stir well to coat all the shrimp evenly.
- Simmer to thicken: Continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and the shrimp are fully cooked through.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish the shrimp with sliced green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- For best results, pat the shrimp dry before cooking to ensure a good sear.
- Marinating the shrimp in the sauce for 15–30 minutes can enhance the flavor, but it’s optional for a quicker preparation.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator and enjoyed cold or gently reheated.
