Ribbon roses are a nice way to add a simple girlie touch to your cake creations.  Use them on wedding cakes, birthday cakes, bridal shower cakes and more.  Follow these quick and easy steps to make your very own ribbon roses.  You can also make these with gumpaste.

  • First, knead your fondant until it is soft and pliable.  Then roll it out to 1/8″ thick and cut it into a 1 1/2″ by 6″ strip.

  • Now fold the bottom of your strip up about 1/4″.  This will give a nice rounded rim to your rose when it is rolled.

  • Begin at one side and gently start to roll up your rose.  Make sure to pinch the bottom of the rose as you go along to help add a little dimension to the rose.  Once your rose is rolled up, cut off the excess fondant at the bottom.

  • Finally, add some leaves to your new rose and attach it to your cake with a dab of royal icing.
