Sweet Indulgences Cakes

This was a great cake to make!  It was my first time using a 3D ball shapped pan and although I was quite intimidated by the pan, I jumpped right in and it turned out amazing!

I also included a bunch of baseball cupcakes with the order!

This cake was made for one of my dearest friends for her baby shower.  It’s a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.  I covered the cake with vanilla Satin Ice fondant and decorated with my handmade gumpaste accents.  I also dusted the cake with pearl luster dust and the waves with midnight navy luster dust.

This cake was for a pre-school graduation.  I used a Wilton shaped pan and then decorated the cake with buttercream.   I used the star tip to do most of the work and round tips to do the outlining.  To make the border I first piped using the shell tip and then I added the leaves and vines.  The graduation cap is made with fondant.

This was a fun cake to make.  Everything you see was made from scratch.  I like to make the figures 2-3 days before the cake is due to let them have optimal drying time.  I always use Satin Ice fondant as well as gumpaste.

This was a 2 layer chocolate and vanilla cake.  It was filled with chocolate buttercream.

This is a 10″ cream cheese buttercream cake with raspberry filling.  All of the flowers and leaves are handmade withfondant and the cake topper is a Wilton Tinkerbell Candle.  Super cute!

Yes…. even the bear on top is cake   I used the Wilton mini bear pan along with star tips to pipe the bear and create the shell border.  ****Tip*****In order to make the eyes, nose, ears, etc smooth dip your finger in corn starch and pat down the buttercream icing.  See my post on how to smooth out buttercream on cakes and you too will learn how to get this polished look.

My teacher decided to offer a special class in making a beach bucket cake.  Here’s a few photos of mine.  All of the characters are made out of fondant and I used crushed Nilla wafers to make the sand.

**Decorating Tip**  To create hills, mounds or mountains on a cake board, roll up some tin foil and tape it to the board.  Then cover the whole board with fondant.
